James R. Benn is an American author living on the Gulf Coast of Florida, where he writes full-time alongside his wife, Deborah Mandel, a retired psychotherapist and writer. A graduate of the University of Connecticut with an MLS from Southern Connecticut State University, Benn spent more than thirty-five years working in library and information technology before transitioning to fiction writing. He is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Authors Guild.
