Coming Soon

Her neighbors want her to dress as a vampire. Awkward.

Penelope Covens has kept her secret for most of a century by staying off the record. Crimson Canyon, a desert retirement community where gossip outruns the golf carts, was supposed to be where she unpacked for good.

Then a stranger at the pool bar grabs her hand and calls her by a name she buried in the seventies. The front-desk clerk who kept every file in the canyon turns up dead in her armchair. The county says her heart gave out. Penelope has heard that one before. Friday morning, a typed note under her door asks for $72,500 by Saturday. It even says thank you.

Her friends have a plan. March Penelope into the Halloween party in a cape, and let the whole canyon applaud.

Running has always worked. This time, she promised to stay.

Can Penelope unmask a killer without unmasking herself, or will the canyon learn exactly what’s under the costume? Grab A Matter of Record and pull up a stool at the pool bar. Free in Kindle Unlimited.
