The sun is gone. The stars are gone. And the darkness was only the beginning.

A week into absolute night, the world is still freezing—and there is no sign the sun will ever return.

Deep inside a billionaire’s hidden bunker, Marlene Richter searches for the truth behind the end of the world. Far above, a desperate rescue mission races toward the one ship that might hold answers. But aboard the Cassandra’s Dream, the thousand brightest minds ever assembled are no longer passengers.

They are prisoners.

Russian special forces have seized the vessel, and their commander is executing a plan far more ruthless than anyone imagined. With time running out and the temperature still falling, the survivors’ only weapon is their own intelligence—a thousand experts, in every field, fighting to out-think a man who has planned for everything.

But some plans were never meant to save them.

The light has failed. The truth is worse than the dark.

Joshua T. Calvert is the award-winning, USA Today bestselling author with nearly three million copies sold worldwide in many languages. When the Light Failed is the pulse-pounding second book in The Ark, perfect for fans of SILO by Hugh Howey, Station Eleven, The Leftovers, and Blake Crouch‘s Dark Matter.
