Politics can be murder. Sometimes literally.

Maxwell Murray’s job is simple: keep his hapless boss Eliot Oakcroft – the MP for Middlebury-Mid – out of trouble. It’s a full-time occupation. But when Miranda Cley asks for help freeing her imprisoned mother, an ordinary day turns extraordinary. Miranda’s father was murdered – or so everyone believes. The trouble is, she’s just seen him alive.

Max and his assistant Diana Burton can’t help wafting the scent of a possible career-making miscarriage of justice Eliot’s way, but as the mystery of Charlie Cley’s disappearance unravels, they discover that some secrets are worth killing for.

A sharp and witty whodunnit from parliamentary insider David Weir, drawing on years of experience in the chaotic and crumbling corridors of power.
